Welcome to Afi Moto ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal privacy and safeguarding your data when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application as a Customer or Motari (Driver). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the application.

2 Information We Collect

We collect several types of information to provide, maintain, and improve our ride-hailing services:

• Personal Identification Data: Your name, phone number, user account role (Customer or Motari Driver), and optional profile details.
• Precise Location Data: Precise GPS location coordinates (latitude and longitude) from your device.
• Ride & Fare Data: Pickup locations, destination addresses, fare offers, fare negotiations, and active trip logs.
• Device & Technical Data: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and network connection status.

3 How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following primary purposes:

• Ride Dispatch & Distance Calculation: Connecting nearby Customers with Motari drivers and computing accurate distance-based pricing.
• Fair Order Distribution: Routing customer ride requests to nearby drivers using proximity sorting and exposure balancing algorithms.
• Service Security & Fraud Prevention: Validating phone numbers, enforcing offer attempt limits, and preventing fraudulent ride placements.
• Communication: Facilitating direct phone calls between Customers and Drivers regarding trip pickup locations.

4 Background Location Access & Usage

For Motari Drivers, Afi Moto requires background location access to:

• Show your available location to nearby requesting customers when you are online.
• Allow customers to track their ongoing ride progress in real time.
• Calculate accurate final ride distances and fares.

Background location data is collected only while the driver is signed into their account and active on duty. Drivers can turn off location access at any time by logging out or disabling location permissions in device settings.

5 Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Between Customers and Motaris: Necessary details such as pickup location, destination, customer name, and contact number are shared between paired customers and drivers to complete rides.
• Google Firebase Services: Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication are used for secure database storage and account verification.
• Google Maps API: Map rendering, geocoding, and distance matrix calculations.
• Legal Compliance: If required by law, regulation, or court order in accordance with applicable laws in Rwanda.

6 Data Security & Storage

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is encrypted in transit and stored securely on cloud infrastructure.

7 Data Retention & Account Deletion Rights

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide you with our services. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or permanent deletion of your personal data at any time.
